Garden Bloom Day: A Natural Beauty

They're back!  Those beautiful wild pink evening primroses have come up again!

They even manage to make my messy yard look beautiful.

I can take no credit for planting or cultivating these lovelies.
They were a gift from nature and come up faithfully every year.
I just be careful to mow around them.

  1. How beautiful. I didn't know there was such a thing as wild Texas primroses, and thank you for the permission to pin. Perfect for my wildflower board! Happy GBBD. Alana

  2. They are beautiful; so delicate. Are they a form of Oenothera?

    1. YES! Though I didn't know that 10 minutes ago. I looked it up. They are Oenothera speciosa. http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=OESP2

  3. Texifornia, eh? Well, I can't even imagine. I think I'd rather stay where I am (nice blooms, though...)

    1. I never thought I'd be out here in Texas. Love my native California and miss it. But for two weeks in spring Texas flowers beat anything.

  6. So pretty. We planted wildflowers in one of our planters several years ago and now I look forward to seeing them pop up every year. Wildflowers are AWESOME at self-seeding and making your yard look beautiful. :)

  7. What beautiful delicate looking flowers and to think they are wild! I like flowers that plant themselves, especially when they are so pretty!

    1. Yeah, the things that plant themselves are doing wonderfully...the flowers I planted on purpose, not so much.

  8. Great pictures! The only thing 'lovely' in my yard is dandelions!!!!! I've got to find a nice patch of bluebonnets and take my son's pictures. He's four months old.

    1. I have quite a few dandelions growing in the yard too. My bluebonnet pics this year were mostly awful...though funny. I'd post some just for the humor value, but in general I don't post pics of my kids on my blog.

  9. I grew up in Texas, people in other parts of the country probably can't imagine the Texas spring roadside flower display. I miss the Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrushes, and Pink Buttercups. Sigh. Lovely. Don't mention the Cardinals, Cedar Waxwings, Scissortailed Flycatchers, etc.

    1. Yeah. In summer I miss the California beaches, and in winter I miss the mountain snow, but in Springtime there is nowhere else I'd rather be. I know I would miss these beauties if I ever moved.
