Found a giveaway for a $42 credit to the etsy shop Tag it Your It ...only 26 people entered so far, and the giveaway ends May 24! She may be from North Carolina, but she has this in her shop:

Not a Longhorns fan myself (Go Baylor Bears! Oh, who am I kidding...I'm not that into sports). But I figured some of you here might be interested.

Thank You!

Thank you to whoever bought this bumper sticker from my Zazzle shop...

I hadn't even announced the shop yet because I wanted to get some more Texifornia designs...and just hadn't have the time. And I happened to check my stats and guess what...someone had bought that bumper sticker back in December! (Plus two people bought Texas Shamrocks in March.) That was just a really nice surprise!

Souvenir Saturday - Buttons

Yes, yes...I haven't done a Souvenir Saturday in forever. Thought I'd share some fun Texas and California flair I found on Etsy and Zazzle. I found the button above at Pumpkin Bear. It's her homage to Texas, where she went to college and says she got into mucho mischief.

I found the button's below at Parsnip and Pear. They have nifty map buttons for various California and Texas cites.

And here's some of my favorites from Zazzle....

Texas Vintage Travel Poster button

I really liked this Texas button.  It's actually a Vintage drawing SMOOSHED,
which I would have never known if I hadn't explored TheVintageVamp and found
the original.  I think the resized button above came out with a fun
cartoonish look, in stead of looking distorted.

And now for some California buttons...

And here's one I could wear to brag on my
Calfiornia upbringing.

Do you have a California or Texas product you'ld like to see featured here? Leave a comment with a link below and I'll consider it for a future Souvenir Saturday.

HEB Giveaway and Review

HEB is giving away gift cards and a chance to win a trip to Orlando. You can enter here every day now through November 1.

OK, now, since we're on the subject of HEB...do you want to know why I love the HEB in my town?
  • They have shopping carts with TWO kids seats (a real nice feature when you have kids born 19 months apart).
  • The balloons they give to kids have staved off tantrums and allowed for a peaceful shopping trip (though I do wish they had something other than candy weighing it down).
  • They always offer to walk you out to your car and help load your groceries (which was SO NICE when I was pregnant).
  • The HEB store brand stuff tastes really good--seriously, I like some items, like their bread and jam, better than name brand.
  • 4 bobillas for a $1!  (Bobillas are these sub sanwhich like fresh baked rolls).
  • Free samples everywhere!

HEB TIPS
  • HEB usually does cost a little more on brand name pre-packaged goods and meats than Walmart (even with HEB points factored in), but produce is often the same or less (it fluctuates - sometimes more, sometimes less).
  • Those little yellow coupons really do save you a lot if both items are things you want or need.
  • If you get a manufacturers coupon for a free item, use it at HEB and you a can get HEB points that earn you HEB bucks to spend at HEB.
  • HEB gas is often cheaper than at other places, plus you get HEB points.
  • If you buy HEB baby clothes, buy at least a size larger than you need because they tend to shrink drastically.
  • Did I mention their store brand packaged food items taste really good?
OK, just so you know...HEB didn't give me anything to write this.  I just saw the giveaway on another blog decided to pass it on.  That one sentence looked kinda lonely and I really do love HEB so I thought I'd post a little review while I was at it.

Win a Texas/California Shower Curtain

Izola has shower curtains with both Texas and California maps on them...as well as a lot of other maps, and other artsy and quirky things.  And there seems to be a lot of giveaways going on for them, so I thought I'd hunt some down for ya'll (we're pretty happy with our shower curtains, but if we weren't, these would be pretty cool to have).  Here's the California one:

Here's the blogs I know of giving these away, and when they end.

Small Talk 6 - Shirts I've Read and Loved

I was busy setting up a garage sale when the last Small Talk 6 was put up, but I'll have to crash this party late because I simply can't miss this one. You see, I sell T-Shirts through CafePress and Zazzle and Printfection, and when I'm not busy on my own shops I love browsing other's to see all the pretty and witty designs. So, since this IS Texifornia I'm sharing my 6 favorite Texas and California shirt slogans...and even THAT was hard to narrow down to 6!.

1.  My favorite T-Shirt ever is....

Ski Texas T-Shirt by the Online Paper Airplane Museum
...and yeah, my love of it has as much to do with the picture as the slogan.

2.   You've probably heard of the Slogan "Don't Mess With Texas" --well, there are so many good parodies of that it was hard to choose.  Here's one of my faves...

If you can't read that, it says
This shirt is by Americasaurus

3. And here's another...

4.  You may have seen shirts with the slogan "Keep Austin Weird" before (which, by the way, I love).  But even better still is this Lubbock Parody....

5.  Ok, time for some California tees already!   Here's one that makes me laugh (if someone reads this long in the future, this was from the age of Arnold):

6.  And this one is perfectly Texifornian...

This one is by one of my favorite Celtic artists,
VoxFox, who has shops through CafePress and Zazzle
Only the CafePress shop has this design, which is a bit
out of character from his intricately drawn artwork.
There's versions for other states too, including Texas.

So there you have it...my 6 favorite Texas/California Slogans (for now...I'm bound to find more).  If you have a blog you can post your own Small Talk 6 and leave a link on MomDot. If you don't have a blog, feel free to  join in by posting your 6 in a comment below!

The CafePress shirt images are used without permission in the hopes that these artists would want me to use them to promote their shirts--but if anyone does not want these images posted on this blog, please let me know and I'll take them down right away.  The Zazzle t-shirts are linked through the Zazzle Affiliate program.  It's easier to link them that way, but I can also earn money if you buy them through my links (which I don't mind a bit either).

Smart Cents Mom - A Review

A while back I did a giveaway for some free advertising, including a banner or text link on one of my sites and a write-up on my three blogs. The winner was not choosen randomly, but selected based on the quality of their site and how well that site "fit" with the website of mine which they wanted to get an ad on. The winner wasSmart Cents Mom, an excellent blog which helps moms (and anyone really) save money. The blog was easy to navigate and pleasing on the eyes, and I agreed with her that it would be useful to my Survey Review readers, as paid surveys tend to attract people who need ways to earn, or save, a little money.

On Smart Cents Mom you can find coupons, freebies, giveaways, reviews, and money saving budget tips, including do-it-yourself money savers, and make-at-home recipes. For example, did you know that restaurants often send coupons and freebies to customers who fill out their comment cards? You don't have to make a complaint--you can fill one out a card to compliment the service or comment on the wonderful taste of your meal, and if you include your address you will often find a free coupon in your mailbox soon afterwards. That's just one of the money saving tips I found on Smart Cents Mom. I hope you all will stop by for a visit--it really is worth your while!

NOTE: If you are interested in advertising on any of my sites, I am still selling ads for as little as $1 for two years (yes, that's right--TWO YEARS!). AND, 100% of the money I earn from these ads will be donated to MercyCorps, an organization helping victims of the earthquakes in Haiti and Chili, and helping people affected by poverty, disaster, and oppression around the world. You can see the ad spaces available and the various prices here.

Souvenir Saturdays - Snow Gear for 2010

I haven't done a "Souvenir Saturday" for a while, so I thought I'd dedicate this one to...

Texas snow is usually RARE and BARE.
If you wanted to ski in Texas it might look something like this...

But several times this year there was enough snow to make people actually bring out their sleds, skis and snowboards they usually keep only for trips to other states.

We even got SNOW ON CHRISTMAS in
much of the state!

Hmm...wonder if we'll get snow on Easter like we did several years back...

Weren't those bluebonnets pretty in the snow?

Gotta love Texas weather!
(OK, maybe not. But it does bring surprises doesn't it!)

The products listed on this post are from artist shops at Zazzle (except the "Ski Texas" T-shirt which is from CafePress). I earn 15% off sales through these Zazzle Links.

Another Texas Themed Giveaway!

I found another Texas themed giveaway! This one is for a set of Bluebonnet Tumblers! I haven't met anyone yet who's experienced the bluebonnets in Texas and didn't fall in love...with the exception of my husband, who thinks they're lovely but would prefer to be without the allergies they cause. Actually, about th cups though--there's several different styles you can choose from if you win, but the bluebonnet ones were the ones the author at Hope's Cafe received and reviewed. You have until March 1st to enter.
