Well, better late than never. Here's what's hot and what not this week.
HOT
Visiting family and friends in Houston.
NOT
Houston roads. OK, so I'm used to roads having more than one name now. And luckily we were warned ahead of time about all the tollways. But I didn't expect to find tollways we couldn't go on without an "EZPass" (a whole road, and no amount of quarters could get us onto it. And the clencher was a closed on-ramp that kept us zig-zagging through not so nice neighborhoods in downtown nearly an hour with three fussy tired kids who had already driven three hours. And that was even with and i-phone with Google maps!
NOT
Loobylu seems to be missing. She hasn't posted a new Mr. Linky since Christmas. Hope she's just taking a vacation and that nothing is wrong.

Hot and Not Hot Wednesday
NOT
An earthquake has leveled most of Port-au-Prince, Haiti (Hait's capital city, population around 200,000), and has affected nearly 3 million people -- one-third of Haiti's population.
HOT
Sending help. There's a list of places to donate on Charity Navigator. I will be giving to Mercy Corps, an organization I've been watching for several years after it was sited by Charity Navigator as having one of the most affective and well-organized responses to relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Below are two places that also support Mercy Corp when you click (that's right, all you have to do is click on a page on their site - advertising on the site pays for the donation).
. ..............
Just click the pictures above. Clicks support several charities, including Mercy Corps. I'm not sure if any of the funds earned for Mercy Corps through those site will specifically go to Haiti relief, BUT any funds going to this charity should help, since they free up more non-allocated funds to go to disaster relief. And it's quick and free, so why not try it?
Thanks as always to Loobylu for starting Hot or Now Wednesdays! Visit her Mr. Linky to see others who are participating.

What's Hot and What's Not Wednessday
It's time again for What's Hot and What's Not Wednessday...that great little meme hosted by Loobylu.
Here we go...
HOT
A mid-day snow flurry in Texas, in December! Here in Waco it melted nearly as soon as it hit the ground, though the flakes were big and beautiful. Up in Dallas I heard it stuck for a little while! (Hey, if it snowed in your area too...leave a comment and let us know how much snow you got! I'd love to hear!)
NOT
Seasonal colds and fussy babies.
HOT
These alternative Santa T-shirts designs from A Christmas Trail! Love em, love em love em...
A very Texas Santa (though wait...Sun Glasses? He might just be a Texifornian!)...
And a Californian Kris Kringle...
So fun!

What's Hot & What's Not Wednesday
It's time for Hot and Not Wednessday - I missed it last week, so this covers two weeks of what's hot and what's not.
NOT
Seasonal colds.
ACTUALLY, SURPRISINGLY HOT
Thanksgiving plans that fell through, then fell together in ways I couldn't have expected.
HOT
My son's excitement over making pumpkin pie.
NOT
That in spite of being all excited about making it, he didn't much care for eating it. My middle child wouldn't even try it...and my husband can't eat it because of food allergies.
HOT
Getting to eat nearly a whole pumpkin pie myself, shared only with my 1 year old (the only one of the boys who couldn't get enough of the pie).
NOT
People mis-using the Bible and putting it on an T-shirt so others can do it too.
HOT ('cause it's not)
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, even here in Texas!
If you would like to take part in What's Hot and What's Not Wednesday, head over to Loobylu's Mr. Linky and join in!

What's Hot - What's Not
Its time for my second What's Hot/What's Not Hot Wednesday ...thanks to Lubylu for getting me to post a post a week here!
OK, so here's whats HOT and NOT this week!
NOT
Whatever it was that had lunch on my feet and ankles when I dared walk barefoot through the Texas grass (what was I thinking...this is Texas for heaven's sake!) and the mosquitos which chomped all over my forehead while I tried to get to sleep.
HOT
Chiggerex Plus--the stuff that made my feet feel better when after itching woke me up in the middle of the night.
NOT
Realizing that I've grown to be such a cold wimp. Used to wear shorts and sorrels in the snow up in the California mountains, and now I'm feeling frrrrozen at 68 degrees! Sheesh!
HOT
Plans for a laid back Thanksgiving with my mom....without "all the fixens" (sometimes simple is better).

What's Hot - What's Not Hot
Decided to join in on a meme I stumbled on: What's Hot/What's Not Hot Wednesdays (even though technically it's not Wednessday anymore.)
HOT
A trip to Austin with no kids...first trip we've taken without any children since our oldest was born. And might I mention that Austin is the most un-Texan city I've been too. It's sort of like the artsier places in California...without as much of the Hollywood fake glam.
HOT
My husband, for various reasons!
HOT
My in-laws for taking the kids. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
HOT
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. It's GORGEOUS! Check out the picture my husband took below.

HOT
Stumbling on the same little Mexican restaurant we had eaten at but forgotten the name of during our last trip to Austin (Curras Grill), and feasting on unique food the kids would have turned their nose up at.
NOT
The parking at Curras. They really need more parking...though I suppose it does keep the place from getting overcrowded.
HOT
Google maps on I-phone. Saved us from much mis-direction, traffic jams, and other frustration.
HOT BECAUSE IT'S NOT HOT
The weather! It's been wonderfully NOT HOT and NOT COLD! It's been gorgeous!
NOT
My living room, bedroom, bathroom, etc. They're a disaster. No, you can not see pictures.
NOT
The quantity of posts on this blog...sorry I've been slacking here. It's because I've been not slacking other places. Check out my Art Blog (and yeah...I did the hot/not hot meme there too, with a few changes).
