Aloha Friday - Disasters

Hello!  I'm participating in Aloha Friday, where I ask a simple question for you to answer in the comments (if you want to).  This weeks question:

Have any of the recent natural disasters affected you?
The only one that really affected us directly has been the drought/heat wave in Texas.  Our kids spent most of the summer indoors, and it contributed to the fire which spread from our neighbor's yard to ours (but only damage our fence) Wednessday.  Small potatoes compared to what some people have experienced.

  1. Thankfully, no.

    Have a nice weekend!

  2. Lee dumped so much rain that our basement took on 2-feet of water since our sump pump couldn't keep up with the deluge. I'm still waiting for it to dry out enough (outside) so I can haul all the ruined boxes and stuff out and clean it out properly. UGH!

    Fall Has Arrived!

  4. You had a fire! Oh no! So glad you are all alright.

Um, we had to deal with the storm that came our way, but not too much damage where we lived.

  5. The floods are bad here. First off we had a lots of rain from fronts, then the Hurricane came and more rain. The rain is still here and the water table is too high now, So, we have floods in our area. Also the trees can not stay standing and are falling down. We have have two fall across our yard.

  6. I guess it all depends on how 'disaster' and 'affected' are defined.
    Have a great Friday!

  7. Nothing here - unless you count the ridiculous increase in prices at our local grocery stores.

Glad to hear that there was no major damage and no one was hurt during the fire.

  9. The June 2008 flood of the Cedar River has changed our community forever. We as a city are still experiencing its massive effects as things get torn down and new structures go up. They say it will be a decade before everything is in place.
